AI has the potential to be very useful but it needs to be told as much as possible to give a good result. If it is left to its own devices my understanding is that it can easily find an invalid answer.

Otherwise the enduring adage – “poor input equals poor output” – could prevail. Which we wouldn’t know for a long time after application. It would be a shame if we only got a better informed history/explanation of poor outcomes of large projects. If the “right’ data sets are used which should include those that reliably capture the frailties of human behaviour (the most influential, perhaps, being “politics”) then AI should give decision makers and players an advantage. Being open about the data sets used would seem to be a prerequisite for credibility.
