Judges are today starting the first phase of reviewing entries to this year’s TechFest Awards but they have decided to give more time to the categories that will be judged live at the event on 24 November in London.
Firms putting technology into action to deliver on carbon reduction or modular construction, as well as new firms pitching hi-tech solutions to the construction sector now have until 2 September to complete their entries.
“With the final phase of judging for our Innovation Incubator Award and the Best Use of Technology: Carbon Reduction and Best Use of Technology: Offsite and Modular categories taking place during the daytime conference at TechFest, we wanted to give firms entering those more time to perfect their entries so they really stand out when they take to the stage,” said NCE editor Claire Smith.
“Getting an opportunity to present ideas in front of our audience is really critical for the finalist for our Innovation Incubator Award, which recognises start-ups or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are driving change and innovation through development of new technology for use in the construction and civil engineering industry or on the projects the sector delivers.”
Best Use of Technology: Carbon Reduction recognises teams using technology to drive down carbon generated through the delivery and use of their projects for any part of the built environment. This may be in the form of embodied carbon through the use of improved design, alternative materials or new equipment or operational carbon.
Similarly, the Best Use of Technology: Offsite and Modular also recognises teams that are putting technology into practice but for this award, the focus is on teams using offsite and modular construction techniques to improve project design and delivery. This can be across any sector within the built environment but must emphasise the benefits offsite and modular techniques deliver for the project in terms of efficiency, safety or improved outcome.
